Cell Lines: Lactic acid bacteria (LAB)

Summary: Dogs are prone to digestive diseases, which can affect the gut microbiota. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) can regulate the gut microbiota and enhance immunity. As a food additive, LAB can improve the health of dogs. This study provides a theoretical basis for the development of safe and effective probiotics for dogs, contributing to meeting the health and nutritional needs of pets.In this study, six LAB strains were isolated from dog milk. Through comprehensive evaluation, the L221 strain was found to have the best performance, demonstrating significant advantages in terms of gastrointestinal tolerance, adhesion ability, anti - pathogenic bacteria activity, and antioxidant effects. It has the potential to become a probiotic for dogs and may even benefit the health of other animals and humans.

In this research, the authors used the Halo counter HD - 4 Cell Counter (Hiscore Inc, China) to count the number of lactic acid bacteria. Compared with the traditional colony - counting method, the Halo counter HD - 4 offers high - efficiency counting, enabling the acquisition of key data such as bacterial concentration and viability within minutes. Comprehensive data on LAB bacteria are of great significance because understanding the nuances of bacterial behavior is crucial for the study of antibiotic resistance.

This study focuses on isolating LAB strains from canine milk and evaluating their multifunctional characteristics, providing a theoretical basis for the development of canine probiotics. This is of significant importance in the realm of pet health.
